Opportunity to Overcome
Originally written by Coach Rai on May 9, 2017
I just laid down after driving for 12 hours straight. I really wasn’t thinking today would turn into a blog post because driving all day doesn’t seem like the most interesting topic. But here we are!
When I got in the vehicle this morning, I was anxious. For the first time since our car accident in December, I was about to make a long trip and it was going to be on the same interstate I was in the ditch of just months ago. But I got in the vehicle. I buckled my seatbelt. And I drove. 769 miles.
Prior to December, I had never even been in a fender bender and all of a sudden I was in a rollover accident that changed my life and challenged me in so many ways. I’ve tried every way in the world to not let the car accident negatively impact my perspective on life but some days guilt and fear seem impossible to overcome. Today I assured myself that overcoming those things, or any other difficulties in life, are not at all impossible.
Today I turned a page in the book that makes up my life. I ended one chapter and am beginning another.
I have so many incredible friends that made it bittersweet to drive away but I have so many opportunities to look forward to with my new job. Of all the chances we have to accomplish various things, there are so many opportunities to grow that sometimes go unnoticed. For me, my trip only seemed necessary to get me where I geographically needed to go. Turns out it was necessary to help me work through some of the burdens I’ve been bearing.
Whatever adversities you’re going through in this moment; you can overcome.
Do not think of any moment as less than an opportunity to learn and grow.
Go out and climb the mountains standing in the way of your peace and joy.
You can do this — whatever “this” may be!
