In today’s fast-paced, technology-driven world, it can be difficult to slow down and truly be present. Many of us rush from one task to the next, often with our minds racing ahead of our bodies. I personally know how helpful it can be to still my mind by moving my body — especially when done in a beautiful outdoor setting. That’s why I offer walk & talk coaching sessions for my clients to maximize benefits in numerous areas of their lives each time we meet on the trail! Walk & talk coaching sessions are a unique approach to life coaching that blends nature, movement, and mindfulness with powerful Core Energy Coaching techniques to offer a truly transformative experience.
Why walk & talk? As a professional life coach who incorporates nature and movement into my sessions, I’ve found that stepping outside the confines of a traditional office space creates a space for clients to feel more comfortable, connected, grounded, and open. Walk & talk sessions provide a more relaxed atmosphere, where the movement itself can help ease anxiety and foster a sense of calm. Walking in nature allows us to get out of our heads and into our bodies. The rhythmic motion of walking naturally calms the nervous system, reduces stress, and clears the mind — especially when paired with the healing qualities of nature — leading to even bigger personal discoveries and unlocking of true potential.
Walk & talk coaching sessions offer several benefits, starting with reducing anxiety and nervousness. Moving while engaging in coaching helps ease tension, making it easier to focus on the conversation. The physical act of walking also promotes a state of presence and mindfulness where you’re more likely to feel connected to your intuition and thoughts allowing easier access to the insights and wisdom you possess that may be hidden beneath layers of stress or doubt.
Additionally, the natural environment plays a significant role in enhancing the coaching experience. Research has shown that spending time outdoors can reduce stress, improve mood, and boost creativity. The natural world also invites us to slow down and reconnect with ourselves, creating space for reflection and growth. In a walk & talk session, the environment becomes an active participant in the coaching process, encouraging deeper connection and offering clarity in ways that go beyond the walls of an office appointment. Combined with the rhythm of movement, these elements promote mental flow, break through mental blocks, and encourage creative problem-solving. It’s as if the rhythm of our bodies syncs with the rhythm of our minds, making it easier to uncover new possibilities and creative solutions. This holistic approach nurtures the mind, body, and spirit, making coaching sessions feel even more integrated and empowering.
How walk & talk coaching works: Walk & talk sessions are designed to be just as effective as traditional coaching, but with the added benefits of being outdoors and in motion. We’ll physically and emotionally move at a pace that feels comfortable for you. As we walk, I’ll ask open-ended questions and offer insights to guide the conversation. The natural environment will be a backdrop for our conversation, but the real magic comes from the movement and your willingness to openly share your heart.
During the session, I may encourage moments of mindfulness, where we pause and take in our surroundings, breathing deeply and allowing the silence to guide our thoughts. This can help you process emotions, find new perspectives, or simply allow your mind to rest before continuing our conversation.
In Oregon, we’re surrounded by incredible natural beauty — from lush forests to tranquil rivers — making it an ideal setting for these types of sessions.
